Later black half calf. Gilt title and ornaments at the spine. Marbled edges. Some wear to the spine, corners and board edges. Title with some foxing. The first ten pages with some foxing mainly in the margins. The rest of the text with the occasional brown spoting. One leaf with a couple of large stains in the margins just in to the text. One page browned at the top margin. A couple of pages creased. A few plates foxed in the margins. The rest of the plates with the occasional brown spots in the margins. Broad margins.
A scarce set of romantic lithographs of the river Rhine, executed by the greatest lithographer Sweden has ever possessed. Carl Johan Billmark arrived in Paris as a young man and lived there for most of his life, working with the best artists and craftsmen of the time. He produced several lithographic albums of high quality, some depicting european sceneries and some sceneries of his native country. This work, as well as most others by Billmark, was printed by Lemercier in Paris.
