Cloth spine. Yellow paper boards. Title within frame at the front board. Binding lightly soiled at the edges. Some wear to spine ends, board edges and corners. Front fly leaf with some spots, otherwise the occasional brown spot. A few pages with light offsetting from the plates. An unusaly clean and bright copy.
This is the second volume of the abridged swedish edition of the german monumental work "Meyer´s Universum". It shows wonderful views from places around the world like Calcutta, Madrid, Moscow, Gibraltar, Quebec, Boston etc. It also contains views of old castles, churches, natural wonders and beautiful vistas. A total of six swedish volumes were publihed 1838-1851. The engravings were selected from the german work and the text was partly translated and partly specially written for the swedish edition by Carl August Nicander, G. H. Mellin and J. F. Bahr.
