Stockholm. Au dépens de J. A. Probst imprimé chez J. Hörberg. 1826. 4:o (19,5 x 11,5 cm.) Title + 28 pp. + 14 leafs with 51 mounted engravings. (contents leaf missing, as often)
Red calf spine. Red boards with gilt frame. Damaged spine ends. Worn board edges and corners. Light foxing and browning througout the book. One leaf with tear in to the text and paper loss in the margin. One modern image pasted to the blank verso of the second leaf.
The earliest guide book of Stockholm. The engravings came in one large sheet which was cut by the buyer and pasted in to the book. Sometimes these sheets are found uncut. A swedish edition was also published under the title "Stockholm och dess sköna nejder" the same year - 1826. The book informs on the churches, castles, monuments, official buildings, the surroundings of the city etc. Scarce.
