A fine drawing with people and small boats in the foreground and larger ships in the distance. A couple of ships lay ashore. The motif is unknown, but could very well be the naval base town of Karlskrona in southern Sweden. Elias Fredrik Martin was borned in 1804. He was the grandson of the internationally renowned swedish painter and engraver Elias Martin. The present work was probably executed when the artist was a youngster. Elias Fredrik Martin lived most of his life in the provincial town of Nyköping just south of Stockholm. He is best known for his wonderful views in lithography of small towns in southern Sweden such as Nyköping, Västervik, Kalmar, Uppsala and others. Marked with a small round blue stamp at the verso "Christian Hammer Stockholm". Hammer was a great 19th. century collector of books, prints and all sorts of artefacts. Drawings by Elias Fredrik Martin are very scarce.
