Oelsnitz i. V. 1931. Folio 44 x 35 cm. 13 black cardboards with pasted colour images of carpets,The first cardboard with title and an image of the factory.

Original brown and black speckled cloth binder, with the company logo in the upper left corner and the year 1931 in the lower right. The binder is held together by easy to remove metal bolts. In this way the product cardboards could simply be interchanged. One metal bolt missing. The logo and the year on the front of the binder a bit worn. The back of the binder has some scratches, scuffs and small surface losses. Interior in nice condition.

The Koch & Te Kock carpet factory in Oelsnitz, a small town in the german state of Saxonia, was founded in 1880 and soon became renowned throughout the world for its fine oriental style carpets. The catalouge lists many varieties such as Hamdur, Sangar, Korassan, Smyrna-Saxonia, Afgan, Kirmanshaw and Meshed. In addition to the images of carpets there are some black and white depictions of the workshops as well as gilt decorations which contrasts beautifully aginst the black cardboards. The front paste down has an index and a key for cm versus inch. A small section on the back paste down advertises handtufted carpets in the qualities of Teheran, Kairo, Uschak and India. The catalogue is in german, english, spanish and french.
