[1847 -1854] 29 x 23 cm. Lithograph. The technique used to colour the plate is quite advanced, a combination of lithochrome printing, hand colouring and tinting.
A repaired tear in the right margin. A little smudging and a couple of small tears nd losses in the margins.
The plate was published in one of the most beautiful swedish plate books of the 19th. century Rikssalen på Gripsholms Slott (The National Hall at Gripsholm Castle), depicting paintings of the swedish king Gustavus I and his european contemporaries such as Elisbeth I, Henry VIII, Kristian II and others. The hand colouring and the colour printing is of very high quality, rivaling fine contemporary european works of the same kind. Axel Jacob Salmson pioneered colour printing in Sweden.
