London published by Ch. Tilt, 86 Fleet Street. New York published by Bailly Ward & Co. Lith. de Lemercier. Ca 1835- 1840. Folio. 46 x 30 cm. 2 volumes, Volume I: title (printed wrapper) + 18 lithographs numbered 1- 18. Volume II: title + 18 lithographs numbered 19- 36. Printed on china paper mounted on heavy backing paper.

Contemporary bindings with calf spines in red. Redish marbled board papers.Lettering on the spines reads "Deroy Vues de France 1" and "Deroy Vues de France 2". Some wear to the bindings. Bumbed corners. One volume with partly faded board papers. Most of the backing papers with some spots. The lithographs are in very nice condition. A very handsome copy.

Views from around France depicting landscapes, towns, cathedrals, rivers, harbourrs, monuments etc. About a dozen are from Rouen. High quality lithographs printed by Lemercier in Paris. Drawn by Chapuy and Deroy who seems to have been involved in many of the topographical works of the era. This particular work looks to be rare. No copy found in WorldCat or in any other place, just three individual lithographs in the Bibliotheque National (no mentioning to what work they belong). The same motifs in later versions are not hard to find. They have differnt lettering and are for the most part tinted, such as in the work "La France Monumental et Pittoresque".
