[Art Deco Almanach] Fourrures Max

Almanach de la Gazelle 1925.

Paris. Max Fourrures Place de la Bourse. Crete , 2 rue de Italiens. 19 x 12 cm. 88 pp. + 4 pochoir plates.

Deccorated paper board binding with the trademark gazelle at the front. End papers with gilt patterns. Edges uncut. Slight wear to the boards. Some browning to the spine and a couple of minor spots to the boards. A little offsetting from the pochoir plates on the facing page, in spite of guard papers. A very nice copy.

An exclusive almanach of superb quality directed at the higher echelons of society, with four pochoire plates representing Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring. Text contributions by Anatole France, Michel Georges-Michel and Robert de Montesquiou. Published by the french fashion house Fourrures Max and impressed by the Paris master printer Crété. It has a beautiful layout and decorative elements typical for the 1920s. The pochoir technique gives the images a very crisp and fresh appearance. It is a refined way of making fine stencil prints, preferebly published by french couture magazines in the early 19th. century. The highly specialized craftsmanship was very time consuming which made the images expensive.
