[Lithographic printing stone]
[The image on the stone is a photographic reproduction of a woman with a dog]
[Probably late 19th. century] 43 x 31 x 7 cm. Weight 31 kg. The oval image measures 9,5 x 13,5 cm. The number "68X" in red on one of the short edges of the stone.
A big splinter to one of the corners and another one to one of the long edges. A few stains to the surface of the stone. A couple of them in the image area.
A photograph has been transferred to the stone to make it possible to produce lithographic prints of the image. The image is quite small compared to the stone which shows that the stone was used successively for different kind of pictures, small and large. It is a bit surprising though, that such a big and heavy stone was used in this case. It must have been quite cumbersome. To find a lithographic stone with a photographic reproduction is very rare. [There will be extra postage for international customers because of the heavy weight of the stone].
