[Photo] Börtzells

Konserthuset i Stockholm.

Förlag: Generalsatbens Litografiska Anstalt. Börtzells Tr. AB. 1926- 1929. 50 x 65 cm. Collotype (Ljustryck)

A break in the right margin. A small discolouration in the lower margin. Very nice condition.

An interesting view of Konserthuset, the new concert hall in Stockholm, completed in 1926. The photo was probably taken around that time. The construction of Centrumhuset in the corner of Kungsgatan and Sveavägen started in 1929, no work on the building has been started. As a dramatic back drop we see Kungstornen, the two towers were finished in 1924 and 1925. Interestingly there is no statue in front of the hall, it was not erected until 1936 and Sveavägen still ends at Kungsgatan, it was not extended south unil the 1940s. We can also see the typical style of cars and dress of the 1920s as well as the outdoor market in front of the concert hall, which is still ongoing to this day. An uncommon view.
