Brown front wrapper. Image title on front. Loose front wrapper with small tears to the margins . Back wrapper missing. 4 of the plates with string holes in upper margins. 3 plates with a few tears in the margins. Light soiling to the margins of 4 plates. 1 plate with a stain to the image area.
Humourous lithographs of contrasts. A french couple versus an english couple. Drinking soldiers of the years 1500, 1750, 1810 and 1830. A game of chess between Charles XII and Fredric the Great overseen by Napoleon. A Salon in the year 1600 and in 1830. A troubadour in 1330 and in 1830 and so on. Several images to each sheet. Mörner was a swedish count and artist who lived in Italy in the 1820s, where he among other things published the famous "Il Carnevale di Roma" in 1820 (20 etchings put together to a panorama). In the early 1830s he moved to London where he published "Humourous Sketches" and the present work. Rare.
