Second swedish edition. Stockholm. På Em. Girons Förlag. 1866. 4:o. 29 x 23 cm. Title + 30 pp. + 33 handcoloured plates + 1 uncoloured plate.
Red blind pressed cloth. Gilt title and ornamentations at the front board. Some wear to the spine ends and the edges. Bumped corners. A couple of minor stains to the boards and the title page. A short tear to the margin of one text leaf. One text leaf loose at the upper part. Two text pages with a little offsetting. Some of the plates with unsignificant finger dirt to the margins. Very nice and fresh interior. Bright colouring. The condition is significantly better than the avrerage copy.
A charming atlas on the natural history of the animal kingdom. Fine hand coloured mammals, birds, insects, fish, invertebrates etc. Even a plate on different human races. The first edition was published 1865-1866. The present second edition was published 1866-1867. They have identical contents. Based on a german original. The swedish edition has a supplement plate depcting specific nordic animals such as the reindeer, the elk, the lynx etc.
