Brown blind stamped cloth. Title in gilt at the front board. Repaired spine ends. Worn binding. Wrapper browned. The lithographed title and the plates are foxed, for the most part in the margins, some more some less. Light foxing to some of the text pages. Guard papers creased here and there and with a few spots.
This is a German / Norwegian edition of "Bondeliv i Norge" (Peasantslife in Norway). A depiction of the life span of a norwegian peasant couple in ten plates, such as the children at the chalet, the courtship, family happiness, the night on the fiord, the solitary old couple etc. They were lithographed after Adolf Tidemand´s original sketches by Johann Baptist Sonderland and printed by Arnz & Co in Düsseldorf. Parallel text in German and Norwegian. Scarce.
