Contemporary half calf. Marbled board papers. Owners inscription at the front fly leaf. Worn board edges and boards. Spine partly split and with small loss to the spine foot. A couple of minor spots to a few places in the margins. Unusally nice and clean interior.
A historic atlas of the ancient world by the publishing house Justus Perthes (also the publisher of the great Stieler´s Hand Atlas). The present atlas was a bestseller in Germany and other countries. It was first published in 1823 under the title "Stieler´s schul-atlas der alten welt". It changed name to the "Schul-Atlas der Alten Welt" in 1839. Up to 1852 it was published in 23 editions.
