Contemporary half calf. Marbled boards and end papers. Gilt title and decorations at the spine. Worn spine and board edges. Bumped corners. A few guard papers with brown spots. The occasional brown spot to the text and plates. One text page with a repaired repaired tear. Very nice interior.
Beautiful steel engravings of high quality. Romantic and prosaic scenes. Each plate accompanied by a short story. All but three of the engravings by A. H. Payne.
