A portrait of Lucia, Countess of Carlile. The engraving is a part of serie of tvelve plates engraved and published by Pierre Lombart after paintings by van Dycke. A high quality work executed in London and probably published in London and Paris simultaneously. Since the present plate has the line "Londini avec priv. du Roy" it must have been published after the english restoration of 1660 but before Lombart returned to France in about 1663 (British Museum). The serie became very popular and remained in print for many years. This copy is probably from the early 19th. century since it is printed on Whatman paper. New editions were printed into the19th. century.
