Slight finger dirt to the lower margin. Two very short tear to the right margin. A little paper residue at the verso from a former mounting. Nice condition.
A portrait of Anna, the Countess of Morton. The engraving is a part of serie of tvelve plates engraved and published by Pierre Lombart after paintings by van Dycke. A high quality work executed in London and probably published in London and Paris simultaneously. Since the present plate has the line "Londini avec privilegie du Roy" it must have been published after the english restoration of 1660 but before Lombart returned to France in about 1663 (British Museum). The serie became very popular and remained in print for many years. New editions were printed into the19th. century.
