Here we have fifteen etchings to the great work "Il Carnevale di Roma" executed by the swedish artist Count Hjalmar Mörner. This is probably the high point of Mörners production. The images can be mounted to form a long frieze, but it is also devided into sections. The first two etchings are free standing, showing the early stages of the Carnival at Piazza del Popolo, then we have the Carnival in full swing. After that follows the Carnival along Corson. Then we have the horse race and the candle party. The serie ends with one scene from the Aliberti theater (missing here) and one from an osteria. As mentioned the sequence is interupted since five plates are missing (number 7,8, 12, 17 and 19). The plates were printed by Francesco Burlié. Mörner lived for several years in Rome.
