The first wrapper has a loose front cover with tears, small losses and a couple of stains. Two wrappers have loose back covers and a couple of wrappers have split spines. A few small tears, minor stains and small losses to some of the wrappers. Most of the interior has some ligh foxing here and there, mainly in the margins but also some spots in the text and the odd spot in the image areas. Some creasing and fraying to some of the margins and a short tear or corner fold to a couple of plates. The map with a small loss in the outer margin. Still a better than average copy of this notoriously foxed work.
Beautiful plates showing estates in the province of Södermanland, just south of Stockholm. Historically one of the richest areas of the country with fine mansions placed in a lush landscape of lakes and forests. Each estate has one or two plates as well as a text description on the aspects of the manor. Olof Enerooth (1825- 1881) was an author, liberal thinker and the father of swedish pomology. Fredrik Richardt (1819- 1895) was a danish artist known for his great accuracy which gives the plates in this work high historical value. He also made the originals to "Skånska Herregårdar" as well as a wide range of work in Denmark, Europe and the United States. A classic work. Rare in original wrappers.
