Cloth binding in red and black with the title in gilt at the front board. A little wear to the binding. One fold partly split. Nice condition.

A spectacular album of Portsmouth including a large panorama of the harbour and images of the H: M. S. Victory and H. M. S. Vincent as well as impotant buildings, street scenes, the beach etc. Photolithography is a method to transfer a photograph to a lithographic printing plate or stone. A combination of photography and lithography. These images look very distinct compared to any other type of images. They were published during a short period, mainly in the 1890s. An advertisment for R. & W. Welch Booksellers & Stationers at the inside of the back board.
