Blue blind pressed cloth with title in gilt at the front. According to a manuscript annotation at the inside of the front cover by the Captain and nobleman "Karl A. Kson Leijonhufvud" this work was a gift by him to "Kungl. Södermanlands regements officers (..) bibliotek". Large margins. Some wear to the spine ends. A few stains to the portfolio. Some damage to the outer margins to many of the plates. A couple of plates with longer tears, but not into the image areas. The plates are nice and clean.
This work portraits swedish generals and admirals. It belongs to a serie of similar plate books portraiting for example industrialists, scientists, politicians, artists, priests, members of parliament, doctors and noblemen. Very well executed lithographs of mostly forgotten persons. A few, like von Döbeln and Baltzar von Platen, are still remembered.
