The plate has been washed. Slight damage to the upper margin. A very short tear to the right margin.

An interior of a russian home in the mid 19th. century. A plate from "Atlas Historique et Pittoresque" which is a part of the monumental work "Voyages en Scandinavie en Laponie au Spitzberg et aux Feröe" by Joseph-Paul Gaimard. Some plates in the work depicts scenes from Russia. Gaimard was the leader of a major french scientific expedition to the north to study all aspects of life. People, botany, zoology, geology, history etc. Scarce plate.
