[Incunable]
[Fashion plate]
[Stockholm] [1818] Frame 26 x 20 cm.
Cheap composite gilt frame. A few minor stains and spots.
Here we have a charming fashion plate published for the first volume of "Konst- och Nyhets Magasin för Medborgare af alla Klasser", a news and fashion magazine. It was the first periodical in Sweden to use the lithographic technique. The first issue was published in the summer or 1818 just a few months after the method was introduced in the country by the german immigrants Fehr and Müller. The plate count as an incunable since it was printed firmly within the 25 year period after the invention of lithography was made in the 1790s. by Senefelder.
