Olof of Acrel was a surgeon and a physician, viewed as an oracle in his field. He was appointed director-general of all the hospitals in the kingdom. The original was executed by Johan Gustaf Sandberg (1752-1854), painter and professor at the Royal Academy of Arts. Johan Cardon lithographed the portrait. Along with Carl Johan Billmark, he was Sweden´s most eminent lithographer. In 1843 he received the title "Royal lihographer. The present portrait is from the finest of all 19th. century portrait galleries published in Sweden.
