Front wrapper detached with frayed and torn edges as well as some stains. The back wrapper with frayed edges. A few stains to the interior. One text leaf with browned edges. Image areas clean.
Beautiful plates showing estates in the province of Södermanland, just south of Stockholm. Historically one of the richer areas of the country with fine mansions placed in a lush landscape of lakes and forests. The complete work was published in 19 parts containing 57 plates and a map. Each estate with one or two plates as well as a text description on the aspects of the manor. This part contains one plate of Sparreholm from the south and two plates of Skenäs.One additional plate and some of the text to Sparreholm was published in the previous part and some of the text to Skenäs was published in the following part. Olof Enerooth (1825- 1881) was an author, liberal thinker and the father of swedish pomology. Fredrik Richardt (1819- 1895) was a danish artist known for his great accuracy which gives the plates in this work high historical value. He also made the originals to "Skånska Herregårdar" as well as a wide range of work in Denmark, Europe and the United States. Rare to find a part in its original wrapper.
